NHS RightCare Sepsis Scenario - Opportunities to reduce unwarranted variations in sepsis care
NHS RightCare Scenario (produced with the NHS England-led Cross-system Sepsis Programme Board) will demonstrate the opportunities to reduce the unwarranted variation in sepsis care.
In this scenario using a fictional patient, Rob, they examine a case of sepsis, its identification and subsequent management, comparing a suboptimal, difficult scenario against an ideal pathway. At each stage they have modelled the costs of care to commissioners and describe the impact of suboptimal care and then of ideal care on the outcomes and experiences of Robert and his family.
This document is intended to help local health economies understand the implications on quality of life and costs – of shifting the sepsis pathway away from a suboptimal journey to one that consistently delivers timely evidence-based excellence.
