Visual Vocabulary

One of the creators of Makeover Monday (the source for our Monthly Challenge), Andy Kriebel, has created a Tableau workbook inspired by Financial Times Visual Vocabulary. This chart was previously mentioned by @Sybil_D in her Pies and Other Tasty Charts for Use posting. The workbook Andy developed recreates all charts in Visual Vocabulary with Tableau. You can download the workbook to see how the charts were created. This is a great resource that can inspire new approaches to visualizing data. Below is the link to the write up and the workbook on Tableau Public.

Note in order to download the workbook and see how the charts were created, you will need version 10.1.8 or newer.

Great poster! I kinda want to put it on the wall here in my office.
I'm also sharing a couple PDFs that I bring from my prior work at Chicago. These were shared with trainees of a national informatics program and thought they were useful. I haven't checked to see if they agree/conform with this poster...
@mroberts Thank you for sharing! The Chart Chooser is a great reference. I really like the Data Visualization Checklist. I think this is a great self-check before sharing your visuals with others.
