KNH Releases New Data Tool to Explore Nursing Homes Infection Risk Factors

Kaiser Health News has released a new data tool that allows consumers to explore infections risk factors at nursing homes in their state. The data tool - Look Up Infection Risk Factors At Nursing Homes Near You - tracks infection-related deficiencies and staffing levels for nursing homes that take Medicare and/or Medicaid, pinpointing sepsis risk by site. These deficiencies, which increase the risk of sepsis, are cited in federal inspection reports and shown here. They relate to bedsores, catheters, feeding tubes, and the home's required infection prevention and control program.
