The cardiac team at British Columbia’s Royal Columbian Hospital is using CIHI’s (Canadian Institute for Health Information) most recent Cardiac Care quality indicators to actively track the number of patients it helps, as well as their survival statistics. With almost 3,000 angioplasties performed last year, Royal Columbian has become Canada’s busiest cardiac catheterization lab for angioplasties, the key treatment for heart attacks. In addition, CIHI data places the Royal Columbian Hospital as 1 of 4 centres in Canada with statistically superior survival rates following angioplasty.
